16th April 1842:
Appeared personally Charles Augustus SMITH, Esquire of the Parish of Greenwich in the County of Kent, a Widower, and prayed a Licence for the Solemnization of Matrimony in the Parish Church of Evershot in the County of Dorset between him and Anna Bicknell MARTYR of the Parish of Evershot aforesaid, a Spinster of the age of twenty-one years and upwards and made Oath that he believeth that there is no Impediment of Kindred Alliance, or any other lawful Cause nor any other Suit commenced to Bar or hinder the Proceedings of the said Matrimony, according to the Tenor of such Licence. And he further made Oath that the said Anna Bicknell MARTYR hath had her usual Place of Abode within the said Parish of Evershot in the said County of Dorset for the Space of Fifteen Days last past.
